How does your garden grow?

I've just recently laid my entire back yard in concrete. Makes for easy maintenance

The lawn was dead from all the cars parked on it so i figured why not concrete it.

it all slopes ever so slightly into the centre where there's a stormwater drain. A lot like a shower tray

and concrete isn't THAT easy to look after, I thought that it was, once upon a time.  so we made a big concrete pad for the kids to play on (and cars to park on etc etc)  The other day I swept off so much tree debris and concrete grit and dirt and dust etc was only a couple of months worth... and then there is the green it grows too.


The mystery of my day though is how on earth I got a burnt cleavage err frontage when most of the time I was bending over weeding

I dug a new garden alongside the path, as the mower couldn't get into the corner to trim the grass

what it looks like from the footpath, and of course its only just planted with seedlings so they have a lot of growing to do


the other side of the path, which badly needs developing, just has some lavender bushes growing (they were put there temporarily about 5 years ago 


the only real bit of garden that was made when we bought the house, I've added plants, and once the house is painted am wanting to add some trellis for the climbing roses there, and put in a wisteria



my sweetpeas that didn't die over winter, am training them up the trellis which is an archway

The poppies are doing well Raven. Can't wait for them to flower! Didn't realise they grew so high. Will have to rethink where I put them next time round

I have been out digging up more ground    I need to put concrete mowing strips around all my gardens cause its friggen annoying having grass sneak up along the edges

  how come small jobs always become big plans?

just pulled out all my winter carrots. and thinking I need to plant more cauli and broccoli too. still gotta get the corn and peas in    will do that this avo if I can find the seeds

Purple ones are what Raven said they were.
Salmon one is alstromeria
Left side of rosemary might be perennial lobelia (does it have a red flower - or blue?) If it is a blue flower - then it is something else but can't remember its name!

not sure if they are pink! they look like dead flower heads. My eyes aren't what they used to be Raven - too many night prowls I guess!!

  apology accepted - just!    Might be a penstemon if the flowers are pink.

Possibly the coprosma have smaller leaves?

nope - coprosma have leaves that can be up to 1 - 1 1/2 long. Depends on variety - tend to be the coloured ones. Corokia have small leaves tho' - always!   
And yes - I have a plant from the rescue bin just waiting ever so patiently to go into its special little place in my garden!!

  I just got some really healthy seedlings from a stall at our local annual craft fair - mostly veg of course  but I also got an iris

Got any chicken wire and a few long sticks/branches? Thread the sticks through the wire and poke em in the ground around your garden. And there you have a makeshift and reusable fence
