I dont think i will ever be the same
after seeing the animal skinning video
those little faces, in such pain.
And my bro worked there for awhile
Keep in mind big Bro like me but x100 in the gross stakes
and he had a hard time going to dinner and seeing
dogs in cages waiting for someone to pick them for dinner.

I belive he ate at pizza hutt alot
You'd be surprised. Dog actually tastes alright.

bummer huh?

sick of our media? i'm sick of mosta the worlds media. they all seem to think we are all thick as pig s**t.

anyway...atleast they got there and made the finals, thats got to be a good effort alone seeing as we are only a small country.

in terms of total medal counts i think this was our 2nd best effort at olympics?

wow, how about that Cuban Tae Kwon Do fighter. Had an injury and wasn't ready within 60 seconds, so got disqualified, and in the ensuing arguments, kicked the ref.    Now been banned for life as well as his coach.......

My Official Review..............

Hosting of the Event;

With all the controversy leading up to the games, even I was concerned all the political protests and Smog issues would ruin the games, but China has done a wonderfull job.. the smog was no worse than china, the hong kong green elgy was minimal and the spirit of sport pushed politics to the bench..

The infrastructure was amazing, the Birds nest was the best stadium I have ever seen. The water cube was truly amazing.. Every Stadium and arena were massive and brand spanking new..

it sounded like the chinese were great hosts too... Although the stadiums and arenas were mostly full, there were quite a few gaps in seats early on, and considering the amount of people in china that was pretty dissapointing.. however the birds nest was always packed for the athletics..

ther ceremonies were amazing, thanks to have thousands of people to use.. Fireworks were great aswell, just a shame about NZ's commentary.

Performance:

China did better than I expected..They cleaned up in events in which chinese atheletes are not well known for.. The money they have put in definetly paid off..

The USA underperformed in gold medals this olympics.. Their Track and Field team was absolutely Hopeless considering past efforts.. Australia aswell had their worst games in a while, their usual swimming success was not there and no decent track and field athletes didnt help them...

Great britain had their best olympics in a long time, and its about time, their past perfomances have been pathetic considering their population and economy. Its definetly looking good for them going into 2012 and good too see their athletes getting more golds than silver and then bronze.... Jamaica have done amazing considering their Population size thanks to a few amazing athletes, Im still not 100% certain on if they are drug free......All the media has been saying NZ had a good olympics considering the size and money we put in, but I think we didnt do as well as we could of, there were medals we should have won and bronzes that should have been turned into gold..

Star Of the Games?
Usain Bolt for me... purely because of his character and the absolute freak he was... Phelps was good too, but hes a pretty quiet guy and although he got a record 8 golds, they were all in pretty similar events..

controversies?

China's underage medalists...... The "dodge" judging in gymnastics and wresting where a sweedish wrestler dumped his bronze in protest.. also the cuban tae qan du fighter that kicked the ref over a bad call..

TV Coverage:

although all the s**t TVNZ got, I thought their coverage was A+, there is only so much you can show at once, and they made sure NZ saw all our moments that mattered.. 4 streaming channels on the Internet was truly Awesome.. The hosts geoff bryan and Peter williams esp were gold medal efforts.. tony street and Lavina Good  should be dumped, they have no sporting knowledge and their questions to athletes were USELESS.... Keith Quinn and John McBeth and Brendon telfer were solid as always...... Peter Montgomery was Usless in the rowing, making some stupid mistakes... the british commentators we got for certain events were fantastic and always made sure we knew were the NZ competitors were in the event.....My only issue, is that the reporters esp the rowing dork would stop talking up NZ chances, its a pretty big let down when the race happens and our "gold medal" chance finishes 8th..

Best Events?

All the sports were great too watch no matter what.. the athletics as always was fantastic, but just a shame it was on a bit late at night.. Gymnastics was good apart from the chinese domination, the skills the girls had were exceptional...The close swimming races were amazing to watch esp, the US relay where they pipped the french and  phelps's come from behind win in the medly. The BMX was a great inclusion into the games, fast , exciting and rough!

Jacques Rogges "truly excpetional games" statement was a fair comment which beijing deserved, it was right up there with the "greatest games ever" in sydney and I dont think London has a s**t show in getting anywhere near..

Im off to go buy the PS3 official game to continue the dream!
