When woman go shopping for wedding dresses
they take no less than 4 people with them.
I discovered the reason for this
1  stand guard over dresses the bride may want to look at
2  Push silly woman that went by themselves outta the way
3  Standguard over a dressing room incase the bride has found something
to try on, or will in the moments you have something to look at.
4  To tell bride how lovely she looks, then agree totally when she protests
5  Block every isle and refuse to move, especially for woman by themselves
cause no body goes by themselves, and you must be just dreaming
6  Most brides appear to be 10 and require a liecenced driver.
7  To fend of nasty sales woman who speck little english and point out
all your faults in this or that dress.
8  To say know before sales woman brings you the exact sort of dress you
said you didnt want. (honestly how hard is plain straight, halter,no f**ken
    sparkles...honestly)

so after 2 shops i was over it
i may just wear PJ's and jandles
i dont own PJ"S and i need new jandles
i figure PJ's might be something i wear once as well
and a hell of alot cheaper

Some people can be so rude.

Have you thought about getting a dress made?  You might find the perfect dress via a pattern and then it is down to finding fabric and a dressmaker.

I heard a story on the radio - a gal in England, the dress she wanted was in the thousands.  Found one on ebay and won it - price was under $10 plus freight.  She thought what the hell, if it goes crap she did not pay much.   Sent off her measurements (some person in China making it or Hong Kong)......dress arrived and was like the one she wanted for mega money.  Thrilled to pieces.

My partners cousin got married a few months back, she hated the places that you went to today.  In the end she found one with a rack of dresses, one was perfect and was just $350.  She looked a million dollars on the day and no one could believe she paid so little.

So keep in there Franky - don't worry about those rude people.  Just think, they must be so unhappy to be so horrid.

Its always an option
first i gotta find a pattern that suits nd that i like
but i suspect that because of the short notice
and it being wedding season and all
im going to be tough outta luck finding a dressmaker
with time to do it. And then there is the finding one that
is good but not dear. Again the not living here long
and knowing hardly anyone gets in the way.
If all else fails Westy said he will come with me

now....  the boy had his school formal recently, a couple of the girls had dresses made for it, there is place in town that took a patern and choice of fabric with measurements, sent all to ...asia somwhere? and within a couple of weeks had a hand made dress delivered and fitted!
not expensive either. ask pinky about it, she'll porbably know more details

Bugger - my mum use to make them (design as well) years back but with her back she can't do the big dresses now.  And one of my best girlfriends is over in London for a couple of years - she is really good and would have done it for you.  Turett from IPG (fashion designer) was meant to do a wedding dress for my boss at works sister in law but pulled out and my friend did it and only had two weeks - done and exactly to Turett's design and it was beautiful.

I will check with her in a few days if you like, she worked in the fashion industry for years before she left for London so will know someone good.  She went to Spain on Saturday so won't be back just yet so if you don't mind waiting it may be worth it.   PM me in about a week to remind me (I sometimes forget) and I can phone her.

I am learning how to sew again but I am so not at wedding dress stage hehe.

Just seen this,

You need to make it clear, that they are there to help YOU. Their wages are paid, through the dresses you purchase...and if they are not treating you like a complete princess then go over their head or spend your money somewhere else.

If you would like help, I'm a phone call away. Wasn't so long ago I did all of this and I could take you into the newmarket stores I dealt with.
