  Hiya!

Not the best day out on the water iv had, infact probably the worst id say. We got 3 snapper between us
but still had a fab time!
Went out the back of Raikino island..excuse spelling..been a long weekend with the kumeu car show
yesterday!

There was another boat about 2-300 meters away from us and thay pulled in over 25 good snapper over
the 40 inch mark, the fish finder told us we were in an ok spot but we got more bites than fish!
Where ever we went it was quite dead,a skipper of another boat phoned our skipper and said to come up to
there area,we did that but didnt cash in like they did.

We were using pillys, squid and mullet for bait and were all getting lots of bites but probably from smaller fish.
I got one huge strike and something decent on the line and wasat for a good 20mins trying to haul in what ever
it was when the line went dead,I pulled it in and the whole hook was gone!!
Red will know wat i had on it id say.

But still it was a great day out and well enjoyed!

Better sort some photos

Maybe the fish could smell the beer and weren't interested.

Or maybe they're Ford Fish

Cheers Red! With fishing its either on or not aye. Wat do you think struck my line the way it
did? Some say it was a big kingy with the way it ran,but dont they usualy go for moving bait as in when
trauling? Probably a big snapper?

If you were on the sand it could have been a stingray or a shark, there are a lot of small sarks about at the moment.  Did you take a look at the end of the line? Had it broken off or was it bitten or crushed?

Really? Well theres been a lot of shark sightings lately so that could be it.
Yea we had a good look at the line and it looked like it had been bitten half way the trace,I had
the trace at a lenth of nearly a meter and it was half that when i reeled in.
I had just put a brand new suicide hook on as well, yea thats cheating a bit but wasnt havin any luck
so I gave that a go and within minutes I got the strike...I knocked over a freshly opened
beer as well!

My first thought was sounds like you hooked into a stingray buggy.

Always gets a bit of excitement going

Your probably rite fluffs, most people who saw what was going on who new a bit about
fishing were leaning towards a stingray or a big kingy...never saw it so its one of those hard luck
storys! Next time fluffs!
