without googling...

does it live in the animal, or the soil, or something?

sort of to soil (but sometimes peeps think it does), yes to animal and yes to something.... Being s**t.

And its a very very long 'brief' on how it works...  it is one very sneaky little bacteriumm

thnks for your interest WR....  I am passionate about this disease.  and have done lots of stuff on it.

ps.. if they find a direct link to its sister bacterium Chrones disease which is in humans, then the dairy industry is dead in the water.   eek

Anyways cheers....

so sssshhhhh about that then  lol

We'll be watching with interest as it is a disease that affects goats too, we certainly had the disease here in cows, fingers crossed our cut and carry methods will kill off the spread of johnes in the goats (and we are eradicating CAE from our herds too).  Back to johnes, we have seen very little of it in the dairy goat farms, some innoculate against it- with limited success. None would be better.

do you mean, if they think they can prove that getting crohns disease actually comes from the dairy products then the industry will suffer seriously?

I am always interested in these things

yes WR but shhhh as Marj said.  Anyways there has been no link proven as yet.

Its a disease found in all cloven hoofed animals only

Psst.......and if you believe Pat Colby who 'claims' it is in horses... but that is crap.

You're both right - yep definitely feel like brushing his fringe - and we do - and he loves it!  Puts his head down, stretches from side to side etc, and yep perhaps next Halloween we'll put a temporary fluro colour in his fringe and then we can watch him in the pitch dark  He really is a character.  I now just want to be able to put him over a Galloway (preferably a Belted Galloway).  Will start working on that soon.
