I use "don't visit dodgy sites, don't open dodgy attachments, and use Micro$oft products as little as possible", works fine for me

So thats what the problem with my computer is?  I might go to Avast instead then.  AVG is coming up with errors in its program all the time now anyway.

You're stuffed once you get AVG on there aren't ya?  I put it on Fraggles laptop years ago, slowed the f**ker down, so went to remove it and it's uninstaller f**ked out, so for the rest of it's life it had stupid warnings popping up about corrupted AVG, stupid f**king program

well i'm beginning to wonder if it's worth having AVG clogging things up?
in all the time i've used it, it has found two threats.
never brought up any alerts while browsing
so was it doing anything? or is there a Y2K type mindset about virus threats?

don't forget, when a serious virus does come, the free ones like AVG can't fix it anyway

I got the vundoo virus a few years back from trying to use Photoshop illegally(taught me a lesson I know), and a piece of software online called 'VundooFix' was the only thing that could do it, so even if I had virus software it could have been no good anyway

I use Stu's ...
I use "don't visit dodgy sites, don't open dodgy attachments, and use Micro$oft products as little as possible", works fine for me

but as I have microsoft I also use AVG for checking email etc. I don't have any errors but it does slow things down a little. It doesn't interfere much

If your PC is slowing a lot it could be a conflict. AVG conflicts with just about everything so if you have any other spyware, firewalls, defender etc installed it's appalling. It also conflicts with MS exchange if you use that.

I also use cccleaner to get rid of all the temporary files, etc etc that slow things down and do disk defrags regulary

I get masses of because slingshot has the world's worst filter. I take it through a mailwasher but it's time consuming. Anyone else have slingshot?
