Just saw Lady Gaga on the telly.
A thought crossed my mind, as happens now and then, and was wondering, how many singers (cause they're certainly not all artists) would still make it big without all the bells and whistles in their vids?
No fancy dress, Fairy no dancers,  no special FX, no shimmying tits  and bums  - would the singer and the song stand up or out on their own?
Without all the razza-ma-tazz?

What really sells the music vids these days...hmmm

There's at least a dozen radios scattered around my workplace......most of them are tuned to Solid Gold.

This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype.

Yep, it's the wireless during the day for me too. On talkback though. Radio Live on the weekends - good stuff.

Seems to me that there's a hell've lot less effort going into lyrics nowdays and more time and money into all the other stuff.

It used to be that the lyrics and the music were what sold the songs.

Dont get me wrong, I love music of all genres from alternative funk right through to classical/orchestral. Have become more aware of the quality of it though.

Right now on my stereo I have Moby, Robbie Williams and the The NZSO Chanber Orchestra - I like to mix it up Smiley

Simple test........close your eyes when watching music videos. If it sounds like deadheaded s**t, it probably is.
