... off you go then. And don't forget my tea!

« on: Tue 15 February, 2011 - 03:34 pm »

Have bought one of these for son's 13th birthday    Not brand new but new enough      Does not have an instruction manual.  Am I able to download it from somewhere/anywhere in particular?  Also re downloading games, is there one site which people recommend more than any other?

Can you tell this is all very foreign to me

That should be the Psp Go manual therehttp://www.playstation.com/manual/pdf/PSP-N1001-5.70_1.pdf

As for download sites, any of the large ones will be much the same as the other. Or the free alternative is obviously bit torrents.

I am hanging out for the new PSP, should be released later this year. Has taken some major leaps forward - TWO joysticks finally (REALLY essential for some games), a touch screen, and a touch pad at back that your fingers can use during some games without having to obscure your view of the screen, will be able to play Android games as well as PSP ones, etc. I really exciteds

Sorry, "bit torrents" - translation please?     I'm all for 'free' if possible but realise there are pitfalls

There's a special PSP online store you can access from puter or straight from the PSP Go via wi-fi, just like Apple have a store for their musics and games on the Touch, etc. Costs a few bucks, but still much cheaper than buying games from stores here.

All the PSPs can do it if you have a connection, like at home if you have wireless, or at a cafe

Don't be put off with the nerdy computer talk , it's actually a reasonably simple operation if you want to look into it .
The down sides are potential virus' but this can be minimized, you will upload data as well as download , really only a problem if you have a small data cap, and most games are  smallish files anyway . The guilt of being a software pirate , but this passes quicker than you think

Okay so son has finally saved all funds needed to take possession of the PSP Go     Do we need any special software in order to do this?  Looked at the PSP Network Playstation Store which mentions using Media Go.  Is this necessary?  Turns out son knows nothing at all

Personally ... I wouldn't get a PSP Go. The new PSP  (will be MUCH better) is coming out later this year apparently.

Ah - too late     Was part of a deal made with him a few months back.  Was offered a PSP3 (whatever) but - no - had made up his mind     Hubby and I are not really into these 'toys' so our knowledge is a tad limited  eek   I've had a brief muck around with the PSP Go and find it an amazing piece of equipment but just really need to know whether or not we need that particular software

Here's some info ... it doesn't look necessary, but is more an integration with the PC thingy
