I'm about to make mine now...

Take fresh quinces - wash off the 'fluff'

Chop them roughly - include all skin, pips etc.

Just cover with water, then boil for about 40 mins till mushy.

Ladle into a jelly bag, and suspend over a bowl to catch the pink liquid overnight

In the morning measure out the juice - to every 600ml you will need 450 g of sugar.  I use raw sugar which makes a darker jelly, but you can use white sugar if you want a lighter colour.

Bring to the boil then add the sugar.  Stir till it is disolved, then boil hard till the setting point is reached.

Bottle.

THis is great on toast, incredible with blue cheese and crackers, and really good with either roast chicken or pork...

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

QUinces are native to Turkey and Syria - possibly not Taranaki unless you have a very warm microclimate.

Might not be possible to grow good ones, but get her to check with Edible Gardens out of Palmerston North, they'll know

I was so dubious about the blue cheese and quince on crackers, that I tried it out on my Mother first...

She not only declared it safe, but delish!!!

It's now an all time fav!!!

Quince and apple pie is also delish with a good vanilla icecream...

Well u would think.......but no.  I live pretty much opposite you on the other side of mountain, last year when there was snow I was all excited and blown away to see snow in the yard, but then saw the pics of the snowfall you guys had over there, you certainly topped ours by heaps =).  My sis in law lives in stratty and we are over that way a bit, often seems colder over there so maybe thats why you get better snow being further away from it?

Hehehe, I assume they in stratty, don't know the names of places but its always a possiblility.  I would however be nervous as cuz I don't meet ppl from the net, lol.....However I am going to have to meet my real father at some point (not seen since 1) so all the practice of being nervous in situations between now and then would probably be beneficial. =)

Personally I'd avoid anyone who loses their marbles and makes offensive comments about posters' family members if she doesn't get her way.

Just a reminder.......according to Butterfly Angel, my wife hates me, and would have gone back to her home country if she could afford to, and my son and I both sit up to the wee small hours, looking at nothing but porn.

Of course, she's talking out of her arse. She invited me to meet her for coffee once, I'm really glad that her reputation preceded her and I didn't go.

Oh? I don't go by reputations, I make my own decisions about whats what.  Don't leave it up for others to make up my mind for me from form of gossip or speculations =)

I aint been on these boards for long, so don't actually know much about anyone, but even if I did I still decide things for myself =)

Plus I aint from whatever other board you ppl all seem to talk of, and funny thing is I cannot work any of you out as to who actually hates who or if you just joke around or what.

I didn't join for any s**tfest stuff, just to have the odd chats and viewpoints on things, so I not getting into all them politics of the place or the other place =)
