   I'll try to be serious.

Because these days kids (a bit like mine) are spoiled brats, they don't want to wait until they are grown up (mentally) to be adults and as (yes homey, you guessed it    You just wait until you take your kid to kindie and he comes home and tells you that if you are mean to him he will call the police, the teachers have made him memorise the number) the government - the nanny state we live in, has taken away the rights and power of parents to actually be effective parents - to discipline their children. They have given most of the rights and power to the children who mistakenly think they are adults just because they are very nearly full size to terrorise their parents  into allowing them to do whatever they bloody well please.  So they do and after school ball parties is just another example of it.

My daughter has her first school ball this Saturday as well. I was pretty worried about it as in other years the after ball party has turned into a s**t fight with police and out of control, drunk teenagers etc.  She has decided she doesnt want to go to it.  So I'm pretty happy about that.
