The Kinect sensor is making the move from consoles only to PCs as well, and is going to allow computer users to be recognised by their puter, and to be able to control the system with hand movements and even facial expressions.

That's cool - funny how they're "letting" developers use it for other platforms, Linux peeps have been using it for a while now

It's interesting though, have a look on YouTube for Kinect Linux, peeps have been developing non-gaming applications for a few months and there's interesting ideas coming through already.  I see there's OpenKinect http://openkinect.org/wiki/Main_Page which will likely have stuff going for Linux, Windows and Apple Mac's, so Microsoft is really just doing a catchup.

Yupo. Will be super cool tho. Not like the clumsy stuff we read about a while back with people STANDING in front of their puters (though with kinect you could too). This will enable much more comfy hand signals etc that will move things about on the screen, flip tabls, etc, will have some good applications. Get further away from kb an JJ

I wish companies would find a way to be OK with people using and enhancing their ideas, etc. Even if they find a way to charge, but at least LET IT HAPPEN.
