Macsyna King has written a book (with Ian Wishart).

I for one wont be buying it.

She is the parent of twin babies who were neglected, abused and murdered and, a member of a family that closed ranks to protect themselves rather than bring the murderer to justice.

Lie just once and it's hard to be trusted again. Murder babies and lie...and you're damned for life.

I guess this is just another way for her to gain financially from giving birth to unwanted children - her and Kahui should both be in prison until they reveal who killed the twins

Don't think we're ever going to find out, there was that independent guy who in the end put up $50'000 to get one of them squawk, but no one came forward. At the time it all happened the hearsay amongst the Chch social workers and social services agencies was that it was actually the grandfather Banjo Kahui.

It's not right.  There is no way I'll buy or even read that book.  Sick people do sick things, so it doesn't surprise me that people are trying to profit from childrens deaths.

Well in that case, I hope that no one wants to read this book, and the publisher doesn't make a cent.

I agree. But in most cases, I still agree that it's their right to give it a try. People will vote with their wallets, and that will either encourage or discourage him for the future in his choices

Yeah, I know ... but I would rather it be something we have our say about with our wallets rather than stopping people via messing with their rights. That way, the particular ruling authority of the day doesn't get to have everything it's own way, and a precedent for stifling free speech isn't set.

Kiddie killers don't get rights as far as I'm concerned, nor those who hide them.

That fb page is 17,000 and climbing.

Talking about it (the book) with friends and family today, incl across the ditch...the general consensus is...does she really expect people to believe her...to trust anything she says?

Wishart must have really sold her a line to get her to agree to it.

I don't need a facebook page to tell me that a book authored and self-published by Ian Wishart might not be very big on facts. Historically, he's been very good at making a book out of dirt.

Not in the slightest. Self-published books are driven more by ego than by the desire to make money from facts.

same as his agenda always is, he thinks he is some sort of journalist and want publicity.
heard him on the radio tonight, apparently the book tells how she valiantly strived to bring the killer to justice , including dobbing in her own brother, while giving the impression she was ignoring the media so she could, and i quote.. " ..she could keep her friends close and her enemies closer."
so get the book and find out what the police force and the crown prosecution couldn't find out.

sounds great ian

Is this the argument of a rational man,Bob?

Wishart is a cretin if he thinks that every bookseller should be obligated to stock every crackpot self-publisher's drivel on the grounds of 'free speech'. I'm sure that the major retailers have sound financial reasons for not wanting to stock this piece of crap, the good PR that goes with being selective about what you offer to your customers is just a bonus..

if there was enough demand, surely the retailers could set up either a pre-purchase ordering system, or an online ordering system perhaps?

If there was enough demand, a reputable publishing company would be handling the printing and distribution. Problem is half of the people who want to read this  guff will either wait until they can pick up a copy cheap on TM, or get it through their local library.

You're trying to make my comment into something it isn't to give your comments some credibilty, you're such a Labour party drone you assimilate their beliefs and think they're your own. Ian Wishart is one of Labours biggest critics and it's no surprise you'll take issue with him.

Some issues of freedom of speech arising from all of this, I'm starting to think the *outrage* over this is getting a bit OTT, people are starting groups to protest and boycott stores choosing to sell the book, it's their right to make a personal stand, but standing outside of stores harassing people is going too far - I might start a facebook group to boycott the protestors

Agree Stu, while the people responsible for the book have shady agendas, IMO, There might be something to it that will trip the aholes up no matter who the culprit/s are. I'd be interested to read it for that reason, but no way I'm putting money into the pockets of the Authors...I'll wait till someone else buys the book and borrow it.

The whole dirty saga of the book could make or break Ian Wishart, I think he'll get plenty of publicity  out of it and he has already mentioned the book will be available on his website. http://www.investigatemagazine.com/ and its there 'front headline'.

It won't 'make or break' Ian; he's been doing this for ages, and the book doesn't have enough potential to change things greatly in either direction for him, negatively or positively. It's simply not that powerful a book.
