Can anyone recommend some free software to record livestreaming audio? It needs to be able to record from all websites, not just radio stations as I sometimes record webinars.

I downloaded Aktiv mp3 recorder which seems to be pretty good. You can even schedule in times and the URL to tell it when to record. The problem is that it has some sort of incompatibility with Windows 7 and the recordings sound garbled.

I think Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) would do that, I was recommended it once for recording Skype voice calls and I guess it's not much different, you're still capturing audio from the soundcard rather than a mic

I use VLC a lot too, that can record from URL's, not sure if it will do all you want though

Thanks, It's funny, I checked audacity and couldn't see how to do it but I've taken another look at their help section and I see I have to change the input source and it will work. So i'll give that a go. It's a shame the Aktiv didn't work because it would have made it possible to record webinars that are held in the middle of the night NZ time.

Excellent, I experimented with using Audacity and it worked perfectly (although I'd love that option to schedule recording).
Not to worry, this is a huge step forward
Thanks
