earth is not home to me

(not clothes, but still fashion of sorts    )

for my boy i am thinking of something like a mixed theme of steampunk and apothecary, with a touch of magic/fantasy

may sound bizarro, but too bad

question is, on a really tight budget, what room accessories and decorating tricks would help to turn it into this type of room?

stuff like...?
- mortar & pestle
- measuring scales
- jars full of goodies
- brass and/or copper
- books
- clockwork and gears

what else?

i am basing the theme around what HE likes

that's not a bed room

it's a lab'  eek

exactly!

Ohh I am not too sure.  Dark walls for a start or gun metal walls.

pictures all look to be dark, mostly browns, which would depress me. i will have to adapt some of the obvious points  eek

amazing, but where's the bed?

a tad overcrowded for my liking, but it has the general steampunk feel  have you seen what they've done with laptops and PC's to steampunk them - goooooooorgeous!

oh, and I should have said 'alchemy' instead of 'apothecary' but there is some crossover, so....

have a squiz through the pages here: http://steampunkworkshop.com/taxonomy/term/11
not all are exactly steampunk-based, but there are some quirky inventions and adaptations

too many people now seem to confuse steam punk with sci-fi.
original steam punk was interpreting modern level technology with victorian/industrial
revolution level technology

you can make cool wands with chopsticks and a bit of paint!

some sort of cauldron like a big brass pot with handles or copper..

a lantern lampshade with star cut outs so it reflects the light in star shapes..

a lecturn for his spell book...

thinking all of harry potter stuff i have seen and how you can make it cheaper..
