whats does it take to make a website mobile friendly and does it require special hosting capability?

The way to do it these days is with responsive design, which in laymans means it resizes automatically to fit any device without requiring a dedicated mobile site, dedicated mobile sites are no different to normal websites just display smaller so no special hosting required at all

I was taking to someone who has a small site with telecom, and they were told to make the website mobile
friendly it would cost twice as much a month to host it !  eek

Yeah well it's with Telecom it will be based more on making money than any real world constraints, is it templated or his own design?  I thought people stopped hosting with Telecom 10 years ago

it's a template
yeah i told them to find another host, they are registered in aussie and pay about $100 a year for the domain!

Okay so they will probably go into a control panel and click a "Mobile Friendly" button to run the "Mobile Friendly" template which will look the same except smaller and charge double for it
