I have an old viking and a big new lawnmaster (My dad gave me as a house-warming pressie when I bought my house for my huge lawn, takes about 2 hours to mow with the catcher on.)

I f**king hate lawns.

Both have a mulch function which is good.

I prefer the old viking. Lightweight, never fails, cheap to run and easy to repair.

Depending on how big your lawn is, you could even think about an electric mower...

Your section sounds similar to mine. It's pretty rough on my lawn mower. When I first got it it was a bit of a mess with bits or wire and all kinds of crap hidden around the edges.

My lawn mower guy is Austrian. He sounds like Arnie.

He's awesome and he recommended the big lawn master originally and it does work really well, I just find the lighter viking easier.

I was always told to go for mowers with Briggs and Stratton motors, last one I bought with one of them and it ended up crappy and used s**tloads of gas and I'm talking 5 litres to mow the lawn on  a 1000m.sq property, which meant I had to go and get gas every time I mowed the lawns and I f**king hate going to the petrol station because it's always busy and slow.  So I went to a mower shop and got a recommendation from them for something that doesn't use much gas and they hooked me up with some Chinese made(they all are anyway now) OHC mower, it's quiet uses f**k all gas I'd say less than a litre per mow which means I don't have to go to the petrol station every week and it's been going strong for 2 years, hasn't skipped a beat, was only about $350 as well - so my recommendation go to a mower shop and ask them for a recommendation

I'm fond of the tall dark and handsome lawnmowers - I've had one for 30 years and still looking good and going strong, highly recommended.
