eek  553 million dollars lobbying Federal Government to pass the TPPA by the major corporations. I have saved the document on my tablet but don't know how to share to TLP. Fascinating stuff. So how do you fight the major corporations with that sort of dosh to throw at Governments? Would having honest politicians in Governments be helpful? Or has our in particular already sold out to the highest bidder?

Seen that earlier, there's actually a website run by an ex cop over there that went private after complaints about the racist hateful comments regarding blacks by other serving cops. Seems its a place they go to to swap stories about blacks and there are allegations of swapping alibi's, they run a background check on all potential members to make sure they're real officers and won't close after repeated requests from the top of police force.

I guess The Press didn't have any reporters working today?

http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/

not a mention of the protesters marching through Westfield Mall in Riccarton or the flash mob singing
in the food court

I wonder if they have been warned off

At least TV3 showed it , but saying protesters stormed past security was a bit OTT, all that happened was
they walked into the mall past one young fella wearing a Westfield name badge

ooo look, more ideas to criminalise people. It might not seem a big deal on it's own but with hundreds of little
clauses like this buried in this thing, very soon people will be too afraid to do anything except what they are told to do.

now there's a thought......

We haven't signed anything, though John Key is owned. So in a way, yes. Other countries are fighting this thing we need to band together as soon as we do that we will be on the outer, that would hurt John's position and his ego.

This is so much better than those 4 chosen designs.

https://www.facebook.com/redpeakflag?ref=ts&fref=ts

It ticks all the boxes in terms of NZ-ness with reference to the current flag too...

And it holds up in terms of international flags that have become iconic.

The 4 chosen ones? Honest to f**k it's like they let a 12 year old design them. And then let fellow 12 year olds make the selection. In 1994.

Of course JK doesn't want to have to change a law... He'll only do that for important stuff, like for pub hours during the rugby world cup...

DUNCAN GARNER: The unpopular truth about Red Peak

The flag known as ‘Red Peak’ may be peaking in social media but it flopped when it flew in front of the people.

When we put the 40 flag options in front of listeners on a RadioLIVE poll – Red Peak was listed at 37th. That is, it was fourth from the bottom. Very few Kiwis liked it.

And New Zealanders, in another poll, gave ‘Red Peak’ the flick too.

A UMR poll released last week listed Red Peak as follows;

1. Males listed it as their 3rd least preferred flag.
2. Females - 4th least preferred
3. 18-29 age group - 3rd least preferred.
4. 30-44 – 4th least preferred.
5. 45-59 – 2nd least preferred
6. 60+ -3rd least preferred
7. Maori - least preferred flag.
8. National/Labour voters - 4th least preferred
9. Greens voters - least preferred flag.

So, males and females didn’t like it, young people didn’t like it, middle aged people didn’t like it, older people didn’t like it, Maori and Green voters listed it as their bottom flag and National and Labour voters listed 36 other flags above it. Overwhelming isn’t it?

So I ask you this – where is this support for “Red Peak’ coming from? Or is it a campaign against the flag referendum, the process and the PM?

Oooooh, flag idea stealers now

Quote
A US engineering firm whose logo has graced wine bottles and notepaper cubes is stunned to discover its newest potential incarnation – as the national flag of New Zealand.

Images of the logo, used by North Carolina's Peak Engineering since 2008, started circulating on social media last week.

On Saturday, company owners Beth and Jeff Roach said they thought its similarity to "Red Peak", the design that 35,000 people have petitioned to add to the flag referendum, was "curious".

"It's obviously caught us by surprise. . . and we were even more surprised that people had nicknamed it 'red peak'. Obviously we're very flattered!" said Beth Roach.

The couple, from the town of Apex (population 42,000 and recently named the most desirable place to live in America) received an email about the flag debate "from a random New Zealand citizen" on Wednesday.

"I thought it was mail and I deleted it," said Beth Roach. More emails followed and the couple were now watching with interest.
