I have sooooooooooooo many plums each year, I really need to find something to do with them, cause they form a blanket of rotting fruit on the ground *ick*.

I'm not into plum jam  as it usually has bits of skin in it

What about plum sauce? Do you use certain varieties only? I don't think these ones go sweet, but are tolerable.

h e l p    for next season - I have both red and yellow varieties

I got recipes for plum sauce and plum chutney.  Havent made either but personally I'd be into the plum chutney

I make an awesome peach chutney.....  IISSM eek   (new abbreviations made up by snoopy )

Down in Mstn my ma and pa have heaps of plums trees.  This is their first summer there.  was rented before that.  It has been so dry that the birds stripped the trees of evrything in a week, looking for the moisture

bugger aye? never thought the birds would need the moisture tho - interesting.

It might have to be plum sauce - then lots of pizza bases

we have the neighbours apple tree hanging over, and today I saw they had been pecked HEAPS over the last few days.

I have one older plum tree which looks like it is struggling a lot - and I've had a few nice plums off it, but it doesn't produce much. The plums are dark purple but with yellow/orange flesh so don't know what they are called, but was thinking maybe of pruning back REALLY hard and seeing if that helps it come away again, as there is probably a lot of deadwood to prune too. ???

I think I've identified them as Cherry plums now

so do you treat them like normal plums in recipes still?
