A metre long is a good yellowfin, maybe 30kg? A workup is one of the most incredible things you can witness in the sea, like you said, tuna etc leaping out of the water, gannets and other birds plummeting out of the sky, just carnage everywhere. We were trolling out behind Red Mercury last year and we saw a Minke whale up ahead. We decided not to get too close so we headed away to port a bit, then bugger me, another one blew just about 30 metres off our port side, and another one on our starboard side. We just had to keep going ahead, we were s**tting ourselves. Right in amongst it all, the birds started working and we were in the middle of this huge meatball of bait and birds....and bloody great whales. It was one of the most amazing, and nerve wracking sights Ive ever seen.
