Title: Alchemy Cafe & Wine Bar at the art gallery, Christchurch.
Post by: Brain on Sun 20 July, 2008 - 07:36 pm

checked out the menu online to check for gluten free status.
menu had vegetarian options labled, but not GF ?!
undeterd i rang and quized the person who answered about gf options.

well!  i was informed that most of the menu can be altered where they can to accomadate
gf requirement. they also do GF bread.
wonder why they don't have this on the menu or the website?

anyway.. we booked.
when we arrived there was a table of about 15 just starting their meals, but apart from that
we were the only other table.
the waiter was prompt with menus and water, told us the daily specials asked for a drink order and was happy to come back when we had time to choose from the wine list.
this was the pattern for the night, prompt service and helpful.
not fazed when quized about gf choices, double checked with the kitchen and made sugestions where needed.
the food was excellent, ideal portion size, mrs jj and i had steak both cooked exactly as requested, our friends also were impresed with their food.
the complimentary port or cognac was also a good touch.

worth a visit. i would definatly go again
