Title: Asset Sales...
Post by: bethune on Tue 26 June, 2012 - 11:29 pm
I'd like to hang onto my assets thank you... :hehehe:

...and what's the Government really up to?

They have a mandate, even the vocal minority claiming they speak for the majority against are struggling to get the 300,000 signatures required for a referendum.  We could start mining to make money, put again vocal minorities come out against it and threaten to all move to Australia, to work in mines most likely ...

Yes dreams maybe free now - but the future looks bleak.

We can't start mining because we don't have the resources for it - but whoever donkey sells NZ too, could,  that's not going to generate much income for New Zealand. We might be worth our weight in gold, but a marriage with the devil ain't gonna be happy a marriage.

asset sales are short-sighted and not in the country's best interests. it has been shown in the past, and will be shown again.

perhaps we should be cutting back on frivolities such as our foreign aid, until were back in the black

Less one vote, the minority in this case is a hair short of a freckle and you know it.

One vote in parliament yes, but I'm cynical about real public opposition, so the Greens conduct a poll and the results are that 80% are opposed, yet they probably put the poll on their website where 95% of the visitors are their supporters, and they'll claim that as a valid result - and I keep hearing about poll results, but I never hear who was polled, how it was asked, etc etc - reminds me of those idiots that were living in parks claiming they represented the 99% majority

forget the greenies, any competent economist will tell you that the long term returns from the assets far outweigh the small amount they will get from the sales.
Everyone bagged labour when they flogged off all the family silver, and it was the same short sighted s**t, but most people now realise that, except it seems those that were the loudest in their opposition at the time!

I do support the mining though, BUT, only if the government ups their share of the profit and keeps it to companies that are majority kiwi owned.
All these wonderful landscapes that must be protected have never been seen by 90% of people and hardly are likely to be overrun by eco-tourist at any time in the future. They are far too remote for access to anyone except hardened hunters and trampers. Anyone who drives down the west coast of the south island will drive past half a dozen or more mines and never know they are even there.
as much as i hate fat gerry, he needs to get some balls and start making money for his pies this country

On the mining, I actually think they should use or create a SOE to do it, and then use the MOM on that so NZ gets 51% of the profit and still has the drive for profit of a private company, and I do think the current cut we get is too low, not that I remember the exact figure
