Title: 77.5 percent increase in 5 years
Post by: Lux on Tue 17 May, 2016 - 06:44 pm
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/17/new-zealand-housing-crisis-forces-hundreds-to-live-in-garages-tents-and-cars?CMP=twt_a-world_b-gdnworld

and this c**t of a Government has done nothing to prevent this crisis. Bastards don't pay their taxes so what do they care if the rest of us bare the brunt of their greedy decision making or lack of.

Can someone please tell me how these people can be homeless and penniless, in a Country who at the moment cannot get fruit picked from trees, in return for a $15-18 hourly rate around about a $650 weekly return??? we have a family member picking fruit for a change in scenery, and is earning $850 for a 6 day week and is very happy to be doing so, but Apples are being left on trees because they can't get them off the trees to meet the receiving deadline BUT we have Homeless and Penniless and unemployed people by the mile!! something does not add up here!! me thinks that certain peoples benefits should be stopped!! while the Export fruit season is in progress.
How can you be continually be Penniless when there is an abundance of work out there??!!

From the comments  :grinch:

If you are penniless and live in Auckland how the feck are you going to travel...maybe... with your family in tow, find affordable accommodation and pay bond up front, when you're living hand to mouth. I wish some people would actually think these situations out before they make stupid comments like that one. I'f you're not willing to try to understand the situation then you shouldn't bother commenting. The Government demonizes the most vulnerable people in our society while fleecing this Country of our wealth and assets, they are the biggest bludgers out, the top end benefits while the poor drown. And stupid dickheads like the one that made that comment are probably going to vote for them in the next election.

And that is what needs explaining to people.
That the super poor are trapped. They cannot get to those picking jobs.

a deposit on a house, why let people rack up that much debt, could have put that kind of money towards a decent deposit on a house, doesn't have to be in Auckland.
