Hi All,

we're going to be limiting the number from now on to 100 maximum per person due to the growing size of the database.  I did a backup this morning, it's 113MB at the moment for all of TLP, 13MB of that personal messages, that's 13,000,000 characters, around 20,000 undeleted pm's in all.  The last backup I did was last weekend, the database was 106MB and has been hovering around that for a few months, so it's grown significantly in just a week.

I'm creating an automated script to target the person with the most every hour, and delete 10 at a time.  It will also delete the pm's that person has deleted, but the sender has saved to their outbox.  The deletion will target the oldest pm's first.

The script is going live next Saturday, July 26 2008, so you have that time to decide which 100 you want before the site decides for you.

The script for this is all ready to go

one addition I added was that it only affects peeps that have logged in from mid-day today, so peeps having a break etc will get a chance to clean up

will still wait until next week to go live

I should add that it's not as clever as my usual work, mainly due to laziness, so if you have 101 for example, it will still delete 10 leaving you with 91 eek
