Busy weekend.

-Removed all old rotten timber and framing from cabin and cockpit areas and built new floors throughout.

-Stripped all old wiring out and started to renew wiring to auxillary gear. Got Cabin lights, Navigation lights, bilge pump, wipers and trim tabs working.

-Found all new fabric from a remnant stand in a shop in town to recover the upholstery inside. Was given a roll of marine carpet which will be enough to do the whole job, and bought a roll of vinyl for the bathroom for $5.00.

Starting to look like a boat now.

picked up the Engine and Sternleg on the weekend, the motor hadn't been running for a long time, Connected the wiring up and ran a fuel line to a tin, and gave it a crank, it fired up fairly quickly and ran as sweet as a nut.
Sternleg seems ok, but needs a couple of parts, hydraulic hoses etc, nothing too major. I'm fabricating Engine mounts and stiffening up the Transom next, and hopefully will look at fitting the Engine etc. next weekend.
Seats and berth will be all re covered this week, and I'll have the varnishing finished inside this week as well.
Aiming at being in the water by the end of September, and finished completely by Christmas.

Thanks JJ, I'm starting to be encouraged because I can actually see it in the water now, not just a big pile of junk in the front yard.

Thanks, we're staring to get a bit excited about it. I'll hopefully get all the Electronics wired up this week, and build the Engine mounts etc, and with a bit of luck the motor will go in this weekend.   yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh

I could shoot Red for learning a new way to stretch the page!

but   JJ don't be like that, you've just made so many people so much happier about themselves, be happy for us.

Though if you ever see the sheds (note that is plural ) here, there is junk interesting stuff 100 yrs old it has accumulated for so long.  You wouldn't feel so bad yourself. Poor Archie had to pick up his jaw off the floor when he saw

Ok, so this is my plan for the Weekend, I've drawn up something that I think will work and I'll fabricate it over the weekend and fit it. I have thickened and reinforced the Transom to take the extra weight of the new Sternleg as the old one wasn't supported at all by the Transom. The Frame will sit inside the existing Engine bearers and run up the inside of the transom, bolted through, and Coachscrewed and epoxied into the existing Bearers.

You guys reckon this will be strong enough?  eek

Engine Bed fabricated.

Dash taking shape.
